The syllabus for the courses offered by SDE is made available to the scholars through the official website of SDE. This gives an outline of the course content for specific courses.
2. Course Materials/ Academic Resources
To supplement the learning from text books and other scholarly resources, study materials are provided by SDE which can be availed through website. This is available both in the form of print and e-resources prepared and scrutinized by eminent teachers.
3. Question Bank
In order to make review of learning, question bank having readymade model questions and answers are made available through the web site.
Exclusively for receiving the grievances of SDE students, a grievance redressal cell has been launched with a view to solve the problems faced by students on the same day of the complaint lodged via e-mail. To improve quality and credibility, Exam unification has been implemented, a system which implements the conduct of a single exam for both regular and SDE students.
SDE introduced CCSS for all the UG programmes to improve the curricular standards. This was a milestone towards social justice through education.The modified regulations of Choice based Credit Semester system has been implemented with effect from 2014 admission onwards for all UG Programmes.
To ensure functional efficiency, Online & Spot certificate verification and admission to UG programmes, Online & Spot certificate verification, admission and distribution of study materials to PG programmes is being facilitated by SDE.

Academic Calendar - SDE introduced a permanent academic calendar for its courses which ensures systematic performance and time bound completion of courses.
Website – The main form of information Dissemination which include Notifications & Information, Online Registration & ID Card, Contact Class schedule, Syllabus, Study Materials and Question Bank.
A library exclusively for reference purposes of the SDE students is facilitated. Reference service of the Calicut University Central Library (C.H. Mohammed Koya Library) in the Campus and Service of Library at the University Study Centers are also offered.
A remarkable decision, first of its kind in the History of Indian Universities, to conduct Arts and Sports Festival for the students of School of Distance Education from 2013.
Industry Centered Skill Empowered Programme (SDEICSEP) under the title “Work with Worker”. The Major Objective of this program is to extend certified skills to those who are not getting formal entry to the Higher Education. Also the aim is to create sustainable programs for training and retraining of youth for employability or entrepreneurship including vocational skilling, Job placement and the creation of enterprises.
'Little Professor' education programme is a novel program of Calicut University and will be the first University in the state to offer this. This will allow academically brilliant, versatile, genius to enroll in degree programmes of the University. The 'Little Professor' programme will not have any basic qualifications such as plus two for admission to degree courses of the University. This was well appreciated by the academic and public.The applicants will be screened by their performance in an entrance test.80%marks will be the cut off.The enrolled students have to score 80% in their first year exam for further promotion.
